Robert McCreedy was born in Castleblaney 01 June, 1836 to James McCreedy and Catherine Little. In July 1863 he sailed on the ship Western Ocean to Australia where he made a life for himself and raised a family. He married Jane Bell Waite 24 February, 1874 in Rosedale, and passed away at his home in Willung 08 April, 1927. About 1880 he changed the spelling of his surname to Macreadie, possibly because of persecution of the Irish by authorities.
