My recent research on my Henry McGauley 1821- ?? family has made some progress. His parents were Peter McGauley and Winifred "Wenny" McDonaugh of Ballynew, Oughterard. Henry later resided in Ballygally also called Glan in some records. He was married to a Mary Joyce who must have died before 1852 when he marries Margaret Griffin. It appears that he converted to the CoI under Rev. John O. Callaghan who performed the 1852 marriage ceremony. I am a descendant of 2 of his children and they remained Catholic but a child from the 2nd marriage did not. If you are connected to any of these families or have information, please reach out.
