James T Elgin was born March 6, 1760 in Londonderry, County Derry, Northern Ireland, He emigrated to the American Colonies and was married in 1791 to Margaret Ray in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. He fought in the Revolutionary War and was a Private in the 3rd Battalion for the Franklin County Militia. He died on December 20, 1837 at his farm in Wayne Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
