Francis LITTLE was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland on February 23, 1822. His parents were: Francis LITTLE [Sr.] and
Margaret CLARKE.
He emigrated to the United States in 1842 and first went to Mercer Co, Ilinois where he remained for one year with his
brothers. In 1844 he settled in New Diggings, Wisconsin where he was connected with the "Stole, and Leakley Smelting
works" [*probably Stahl and Leekley Mine and
Furness of Jo Daviess County, Illinois]. He remained in New Diggings for eight years. In 1851 he married Susanna Fawcet
who was born in Yorkshire, England. They were the parents of ten children. The family later settled in Mineral Point, Iowa
County, Wisconsin.
The Honorable Francis Little served as Senator in 1870, and from 1872 through 1874. He died in January 1890 and is
buried at Graceland Cemetery, Lincoln, Iowa County, Wisconsin. In his death notice, he was described as a "high-minded
