Stayed in Ireland
John, believed to be from Parsonstown (today Birr), King’s County (today County Offaly) moved to the Loughrea, County Galway area where, according to family anecdotal evidence, he opened a drapery shop on Dunkellin Street. His son, also John, was born in County Galway around 1851 or 1853. He was alive at the time of son John’s marriage in 1877 to Lizzie Sweeney in Loughrea Parish Church.
