John McKendry (5 March 1826 to 24 August 1893) was born in Ballycastle Co. Antrim to Robert McKendry (1805-1875) and Cathy McAllister (1801-1881).
He emigrated to Australia in about 1849 and married Ellen Casey (28 March 1833 to 1 June 1906) in Sydney, NSW.
Ellen was born in Loughrea, Co. Galway to John Casey and Ellen Flynn.
John McKendry and Ellen both died in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia.
John worked as a gold miner in Castlemaine after leaving Sydney.
