John Finn : Short Biography

According to John’s death certificate, he was the son of John Finn and Mary Plunkett born 24 December 1824. He emigrated from County Wicklow to the USA in 1859, arriving in New Orleans. He supposedly worked on the river boats before marrying Dorothea Burns in April 1851 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  By 1854, he resided just east of Princeton, Missouri where he was known to be a stone mason, farmer, republican and staunch Catholic. He died in 1912 in Ottumwa, Iowa at the home of his daughter Ellen.
