  • Might Elizabeth Doherty have a sister Agnes?  I am looking for Agnes Doherty m. John Sands i25 Nov 1848, Larne, Antrim.  From Ireland Civil Registration 1845-1913.  They may have had a daughter Anna, b. 1852, my great-grandmother.  Looks like Agnes might have been from Kilwaughter, and John from Raloo.

  • I'm afraid that I very little information around Elizabeth other than she was born in 1811 in Co Antrim. This information is taken from the Scottish Census returns for 1861,1871 and 1881. The only family mentioned are her daughter, son-in-law and their children. I have not been able to find any information re Elizabeth's mother and father, and therefore whether she had a sister Agnes. Sorry.

I will be looking at this again the near future and if I find anything that may help you I will post it on the site.

  • Hi Ronnie,

I also got a copy of the registration of Marriage for John Heffernan (Lived in the Raloo area) and Agnes Doherty (lived in the Kilwaughter area, and they were married at the "Meeting House of P. Larne".  I don't know if that might be of any help or not.  They were married in 1848, and my great grandmother was supposedly born in 1852. (death cert)  Anna Heffernan.  She is in San Francisco in 1865.  Anna named her youngest daughter Amelia Agnes in 1881.

It is a backwards way of finding her, but I have had so much trouble doing research in Ireland!
