New Type	Trying to locate Samuel's father. Samuel and his sister Mary Jane McLaughlin were born out of wedlock. Through Ancestry DNA I was able to locate Mary Jane's father as Frances Wilkinson. I have not been able to locate Samuel's father. Need Help!

While I can't help you with the name of the father of Samuel McBride McLaughlin I did find the names of Samuel McBride and Mary Jane to be very interesting. My great-grandfather was William McBride, born 1838 in Ballymoney, Co. Antrim. His parents were Samuel McBride and Mary Jane Speers. William McBride emigrated to Minnesota and named his first daughter Mary Jane. She was my grandmother. The Irish had a tendency to hand down the names of family members from generation to generation. I wonder if this might be the case with your Samuel McBride McLaughlin and Mary Jane.McLaughlin.

Thank you for your comment, it was very helpful. I have found that Samuel McBride McLaughlin's mother, Alice McLaughlin, had an Uncle name Samuel Steel(e) b: 1841 and d: 1931 Island of Carnmoon, Co Antrim. I have not found any other Samuel's on Alice's side. On Alice's father's side, John McLaughlin, I have found no Samuel's.

I do know as per Samuel's BC that he was born 21 Jun 1907 in Liscolman (out of wedlock) to my Great Grandmother Alice McLaughlin. My Grandmother Mary Jane McLaughlin who was b: 3 Jul 1903 (out of wedlock) to my Great Grandother Alice McLaughlin. I was fortunate enough through Ancestry DNA and a few stories from the family in Bushmills that I was able to figure out my Grandmother, Mary Jane's biological father was Frances Wilkinson. Frances Wilkinson married Grace Matilda McKeown on 14 Feb 1905, so I do not believe he is the father of Samuel McBride McLaughlin.
