Does anyone have any info about Daniel & Winnifred Culloo & their family who left Tulla for Australia in 1841?
She was the daughter of Pat and Deborah Culloo of Tulla. She was one of at least six children including Pat, John, Dan, Bryan and Matty. By 1911 Delia’s father was deceased. The family were farmers and Delia was listed on the 1901 Census as a Domestic Servant and Cook. All of the Culloo children could read and write. The family also owned the land on which their house stood. It had four rooms and two front windows with a tiled roof.
Delia left Tulla via Queenstown to New York aboard the Cedric. She traveled with $5 and planned to meet her brother, John who lived 308 East 44th Street, New York.
Delia was living at 442 West 36th Street in the 1905 NY State Census with her brother Michael, his wife, Kate, and Michael’s brother, Bryan. She was listed as a cook. Her brother, Michael was listed as a Driver and Bryan was listed as a Railway labourer. She was not listed in the 1910 Census under her own name.
Delia (aka Bridget) was unmarried when she took out naturalisation papers on 10th March 1933. She worked as a domestic and lived at 208 E 67th Street in New York City. She stated that she was born in County Clare on 12th September 1878..
Bridget died 27th June 1946 and is buried HERE in Tulla Graveyard.
