Patrick Shiel(ds) died in Elkader County, Iowa in 1881. The obituary stated he was 67 and came from County Galway. His wife, Ellen Hurley Shields died in 1873 at same location. Her headstone says age 48 years. In my searches I found this shiplist and a marriage listing in RC parish, Glinsk-Kilbegnet showing a Pat Sheil marrying a Elinor Hurly in July 1844. The shiplist date of arrival is Nov 16, 1854. Pat on the list is 32 meaning he was born in 1822. The obit info says he was born in 1813/14!?
I planning a trip next year to Ireland but I have no idea where to begin! Any help from you islanders would be greatly appreciated.
