Prospect is part of the Leslie Hill Estate, on the outskirts of Ballymoney.
Hi,
I'm trying to find James Murphy, d.o.b 8 May 1891 in Prospect, Ballymoney to Thomas Murphy & Matilda McKee.
I know he was invalided out of the army in Dec 1919 and was living in Lesley Hill, Ballywattick, but would like to know what happened to him, is there a directory for that area at all ?
Thanks,
Daryl

No there isn’t a local directory for rural areas. Tracing folk in the mid 1900s can be tricky.
However, The Northern Whig of 8th Feb 1923 mentions that James had been convicted of dangerous driving at Ballymena Magistrates court. He was fined £1 with £2 costs. The article mentions that he was in the employ of Senator J G Leslie DL as a driver at that time. (Presumably Senator Leslie lived at Leslie Hill?).
He was back in court again on August 9th 1947 charged with driving without due care. He was still living at Leslie Hill. He had been driving in Ballymoney Main St when he was sin collision with another vehicle. Case against him was dismissed.
Northern Whig 14th May 1949 lists his death at the Route Hospital on May 13 1949. Dearly beloved wife of Annie. Funeral from the Lodge to the New Cemetery.
