Samuel Calder was born around 1815. He had lived in Belfast Co Antrim Northern Ireland. He was a seaman and he married Eliza Gillespie. They had five children (of what I know of) Eliza their eldest girl then Jane, John, David (my great grandfather) and Samuel who went out to live in South Africa were he married and had a large family. Eliza married a McKnight in Belfast but late moved across to Glasgow to live. Jane married a Raymond and had a large family, also adopting their first child Edmond McMurray just after they married, who was born in Larne. David moved over to Glasgow for work living with one of his sisters, but later moved to Liverpool were he married Sarah Ann Whiteside (also from Ireland in Co Down) they went on to have 14 children, my grandmother been one of the youngest. I have not been able to find Samuel Calder senior and Wife Eliza Gillespie wedding, and I’m looking for anyone who might be a relative to me through my great great grandparents.
