Don't know a great deal. Mary was my grandfather's sister, she came to Australia from Ireland and I'm unsure whether she was married in Ireland before migrating here or she married after her arrival. Her maiden name was Mary Nugent and the large Nugent family spent many years in Killala County Mayo northwest Ireland. From my father's generation there has never been any acknowledgment or mention there was a husband around. My grandfather's name was Joseph Francis Nugent, he came to Australia around 1880's aged 16 years. Mary Murton (nee Nugent) came later to Australia and appears to have settled in Cherbourg Childers area in Queensland and worked as a teacher with both Aboriginal and white children. Mary was highly regarded but unfortunately died in the early 1930's from injuries the result of being very badly burnt. Mary is buried at Toowong Cemetery Brisbane Queensland with my grandfather, my grandmother and their youngest son Richard (Dick) Nugent.
