Robert MARTIN married Martha M'DILL in 1820 in Downpatrick (Presbyterian on Non subscribing Presbyterian).
I have so far found nine children, I suspect there may be more.
Sarah(m McCLURG), Joseph(m GIDDINGS and ADAMS) and Ellen(m CARLISLE, William. My Ancestors) all migrated to New Zealand. Then William, Margaret Jane(m THOMPSON), Martha(m HUDDLESTONE), Elizabeth(m RICHARDSON), John and Thomas Quail(m STANFIELD), of whom only Thomas I have been able to trace in Ireland. I have not been able to find any birth records so I have no idea of birth order of these children.
Robert MARTIN of Ivy Cottages Ballydugan died 1871. Martha MARTIN of Ivy Cottages Ballydugan died 1876. John MARTIN of Ivy Cottages Ballydugan died 1885
There is a MARTIN headstone in St Margaret's Churchyard in Downpatrick, where I think these MARTINs are buried but there are no names on the headstone, is it possible to get burial records for this Church?
There is a Robert MARTIN(farmer) in several documents in Tobermoney and Robert MARTIN(farmer) in other documents in Ballydugan. I cannot work out if it is the same person. I have not been able to find a will for him.
I have used the probate records of Anne MARTIN(d1906) of Tobermoney; William MARTIN(d1897) of Ballydugan; Joseph MARTIN(d1887) of Tobermoney; John MARTIN(d1885) of Ballydugan, to tie this family together. But I would ideally like to have more conclusive evidence if anyone can help?
