Migrated to/Born in Australia
Mary Kelly was born in London circa 1834. Sometime in the following five or so years we believe she and her mother, also named Mary, were sent back to Ireland. Mary was brought up in Galway but found herself tried and convicted of cow stealing in Kildare and sent to Tasmania in 1852 as a convict. On her convict record she mentions she has a brother named Thomas living in London. We think me may have been an older brother. Mary married George Marks in Tasmania in 1856 and had 3 sons, twins Henry and William and later George. She died in 1906 in Hobart and is buried at Cornelian Bay cemetery.
