My great-grandfather Patrick Hugh Bloomer (known as Hugh) was born in Killeeshill 18.03.1836 and baptised in Tullyallen Chapel. The baptismal record lists his father as Hugh and mother as Margaret Fox, b 1817. His sponsors were James Bloomer and Elizabeth Laughran.
He married Winifred Byrne born Ashford Wicklow, 12.1.1864. Their wedding picture is below.
They immigrated to Queensland Australia in 1864. He was a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary and resigned to emigrate.
Hugh worked in the Gympie gold mines mainly as a carpenter as gold was discovered in huge quantities in 1867. They resided for the rest of their lives in Gympie and had 2 sons, Hugh and James - my grandfather.
Patrick Hugh died 8.11.1905 in Gympie, Queensland and his wife Winifred on 15.06.1913 also in Gympie.
I have been unable to verify details regarding Margaret Fox (Patrick Hugh Bloomer's mother). Her parents could be Keiron Fox and Anna Doogan? Margaret may have been baptised in Tullyallen Chapel and died either 1893 Dungannon or 1866 Tullyallen.
I would really appreciate any contact/info on my Bloomer ancestors.

There is an historical society based in Killeeshil......Killeeshil & Clonaneese historical society....they hold extensive records for the parish.....
Bloomer surname could also be Gormley......Gormley & Fox are surnames in the parish, as is Loughran & Duggan.
The Family Tree DNA South Tyrone area are also based in the same premises & they are encouraging local families to take a DNA test..

My maiden name was Gormley from the townland of Cranlome in Killeeshil parish, only in recent months did I become aware that Bloomer was another name for Gormley, my grandfather and his siblings were registered as Grimes on their birth certificate yet always known as Gormley, death certificates state Gormley !
My great grandfather had several brothers and sisters but i can not find any record of them after 1830's There are several marriages in Killeeshil in the 1800's of those registered Bloomer/Gormley . Presently, Bloomer is not a common name in the area

Lovely to hear from you. To the best of my knowledge my fathers branch have always been known as "Bloomer" - had never heard "Gormley" mentioned until I started researching my paternal Irish side. I have Christian names of James, Patrick, Hugh and Francis in the family tree. As far as I have been able to ascertain this branch has since about 1816 been connected to Killeeshil/Eskragh/Castlecaulfield/Donaghmore area and were all farmers. My gr grandfather's death Certificate (died in Australia) states his birthplace as Aughnacloy Tyrone in 1838. His father being Patrick Hugh and his mother Margaret Fox I have not been able to find a marriage record of my gr gr grandfather Hugh Bloomer and Margaret Fox. My dad always said his Bloomer ancestors were originally from England but he didnt know anymore about them.
As you say there seems to be quite a few Bloomers in the Kileeshill/Donaghmore Parish Records. Do you know the Gormley Christian names that would have been handed down? that might be a clue as to which branch they belonged to. Again other than knowing my gr grandfather was born in Tyrone I am really only assuming that the other earlier Patrick or Hugh Bloomers are from my tree. I do not know how I can verify I have the correct line other than that the Irish naming system seemed to stick to a certain lot of christian names through the generations. Also I find the Counties/parishes/Townlands etc very confusing.
Over the years I have come across some Gormleys immigrating to Canada and just yesterday a FRANCIS GORMLEY who immigrated from Londoderry in the Ship "Superior" to Canada but died afrom the Plague in the Grosse-Ile Quarantine Station in 1847 and is mentioned in the Quarantine Station Memorial records as being aged 45 from Omagh .Anyway I do wish you well in your search and would love to keep in touch.
