Mary Rooney was born in about 1822 in Tuam, County Galway, and she died in Sept 1908.
She married John Ward (can’t figure out where he was born, but probably in Galway.) He was born about 1812 and died 6 Jul 1886.
I found baptismal records for all of their children in Kilmoylan Parish.
Their eldest son, Patrick was born 15 Sept 1845 and died in Chicago 15 Jun 1938. He married Margaret Grace Ford in Tuam in about 1850.
Martin was born 11 Nov 1848 and died in Chicago 3 Apr 1890.
James was born in about 1849, and I don’t know where he died. He may have stayed in Ireland or gone elsewhere.
Mary was born in about 1855 and I think, died in Tuam in about 1864.
John was born in about 1857, and I don’t know what become of him.
Patrick and Margaret Grace Ward are my 2nd great-grandparents. They had 9 children in Chicago. My great grandmother, Priscilla Mary Ward (21 Jul 1878-23 Aug 1942) married John Philip Dougherty (also Chicago born). Their daughter, Marie Eunice Dougherty was my grandmother.
I was surprised and thrilled to find out about my Irish heritage. I grew up in an Irish neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, right near my relatives. My grandmother, Marie Eunice even attended the same parochial school before me.
Unfortunately, I don’t know anything more about John Ward, Mary Rooney, or Margaret Grace Ward. I have no stories or pictures. My DNA testing was done on Ancestry.com and 23 & me.
