Can anyone please help me with locating more of my Delany/Delaney family from Ballindarra and Riverstown.
I am interested in knowing more about the Delanys who were living in Ballindarra/ Riverstown in the 1850-60’s. Elizabeth Delaney married James Moffitt 3 Oct 1856. They had a daughter Margaret Moffatt (my great grandmother) in 1857. After Margaret’s parents Eliza (Betty) and James moved to Sheffield, England sometime between 1862 and 1866, Margaret stayed behind in Riverstown/Ballindarra, most likely with her Delany extended family. She is shown as living in Riverstown, at the time of her marriage in 1878 to my great grandfather, Thomas Thompson.
In the Griffiths Valuation Records I have managed to locate a John Moffat and a John Delany in Ballindarra and a Catherine Delany in Riverstown. I have been unable to. Connect them to Margaret Moffatt or Elizabeth Delany. Does anyone know of these people ?
I have found some extremely strong DNA matches (110cM) to Delaney family with connections to Tipperary - a Lawrence Delaney B 1840 married to Bridget Moore B abt 1840. Unfortunately they have been reluctant to assist me in joining the dots.
Hopefully someone reading this will be able to assist us.
