This is my great grandfather Michael Lyden. He was born March 2nd 1898 in Greenaun. His parents were Michael Lyden and Catherine Moran Lyden. He married Mary Coyne from Gortmore on August 25, 1918. Her fathers name was John Coyne and her mother’s name was Ellen Prendigast Coyne. Their son John James Lyden was born June, 1919. Their daughter Ellen was born April 28, 1923 in Greenaun. Michael left for the United States in 1923 aboard the ship names Doric. He arrived in Canada before traveling to Youngstown, Ohio to stay with his brother or uncle John Lyden who was already living in Youngstown. Michael worked for Republic Steel retiring in 1963. His wife Mary and son John came to the United States in 1925. Ellen stayed in Ireland with her grandmother Ellen Coyne as she was a baby. She came to the United States in 1939. Michael passed away at the age of 75 in 1973. Mary passed away February 25, 1991 aged 92. All of these dates given are from birth certificates and travel records in my possession.
