Henry Nugent was born around 1838 in Antrim, the son of Matthew Nugent and Ellinor McFee. He was a bleacher/dyer and married Agnes Thompson (born abt 1837 according to 1880 US Census - Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey, USA). The couple had five children, Matthew William Nugent, Jane Nugent, Sarah Eleanor Nugent, Henry Alexander Nugent and Frederick Thomson Nugent, born between 1861 and 1875. All children appear in the Lisburn/Lambeg and Belfast birth records. The family emigrated to the US in 1878-1879. Henry Nugent died in August 1880 from heatstroke and was buried in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey according to his death certificate.
The children return to Belfast and appear in the marriage records and 1901 Census in Belfast. It is not clear if Agnes, Henry's wife, also returned to Belfast.
