About the Irish Historic Towns Atlas
The Irish Historic Towns Atlas (IHTA) project was established in 1981. The project aims to to record the topographical development of a number of Irish towns, both large and small. Each town is published separately as a folder and includes a series of maps a corresponding text. This project is part of a wider European scheme, with towns atlases containing largely similar information about towns in a number of countries. This way Irish towns can be studied in their European context.
