Great-grandfather: Matthew Dailey b. 4 June 1834 Tralee, Kerry, Ireland. Marr. Johanna Clifford 23 Apr 1863 King Williamston, Bally Desmond, Cork, Ireland. She was b. 24 Nov 1844 Tralee, Kerry, Ireland. Immigrated to America together c. 1864. Settled in Melrose, Monroe, Iowa, farmed, raised their family of 10 children. The 9th child was my grandfather Michael Leonard Dailey. Although Michael was born in America, he was raised by his pure Irish parents and all of his life he spoke with a soft Irish lilt. .
Great-great grandparents were: Thomas Dailey b. abt. 1802 Scartaglin, Kerry, no death date but I think he died in Ireland; marr. 21 Oct 1826 Castleisland, Kerry, to Johanna Connell b.1804 Tralee Kerry, died 1904 in Melrose IA. Some of this family stayed in Ireland and did not immigrate. The children who stayed were: William Dailey marr. Maggie Lynch; Mary Dailey marr. Edward Healy; Honora (Nora) Dailey marr. Daniel Curran. I have only limited information about these ancestors which I got from by grandfather Michael when he was in his 80s.
