Not to complicate your search, but since Thomas Nolan (1856) is listed as a foundling and not illegimate, Thomas Nolan & Catherine Glynn might be his adopted parents. To test this theory, I would check out deaths for Catherine Nolan as well as marriage's for Nolan & Glynn. If they were the adopted parents, Catherine could even have been past childbearing age.
Thomas Nolan was born at Kiltartan Gort 4 November 1856 to Thomas Nolan and Catherine Glynn.
Young Thomas emigrated to Australia at the age of 19, landing at Townsville 17 June 1876, later living in Sydney in 1882. He married Margaret O'Sullivan from Cullen Cork in 1884. The family moved to Rosebank near Murwillumbah northern NSW around 1898. After drawing a farm at Stokers Siding near by, they moved the family there in 1906. Thomas later drew another farm at Ungarie near West Wyalong and then again at Leeton southern NSW in 1915, becoming one of the pioneers of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. Thomas and Margaret had 8 children: Thomas, Francis, Margaret, George, Sydney, William, Frederick and Annie. George and Sidney served in WW1, George served from 1915-18 and won the Military Medal in 1918 at Le Hamel, but unfortunately Sidney (1916-18) was killed in 1918 at Messines Ridge.
Thomas's early life in Ireland is unknown other then his family are the Nolan's from Rinneen and Ballyaneen South. It's likely that his father (listed as a carpenter at Gort) is Thomas 1823-1871. Nothing yet is known of his mother Catherine Glynn or who her family was, most likely she was part of the Glynn's from Shrah.

Thanks very much for the interest.
I never found a Marriage for Thomas or Catherine Glynn, the only material to go off was the Birth of young Thomas noting his parents.
Do you have something else to indicate the 'foundling' status ?

Sorry, my bad. Looks like I mistook what might be the street or Townland "Fonling" for foundling in the baptismal record. If you were not already aware of the Church record, you might want to have a look at the baptisms of Martin (son of John Nolan & Hanora Ryder) and MaryAnne Glynn ( daughter of Patick Glynn & Bridget Rowan) that are listed directly after your Thomas Nolan. These may be relatives of your Thomas & Catherine Glynn

Check out the baptism of Kitty Glynn 15 Jun 1839: https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634142#page/3/mode/1up
This Catherine would be about 17 years old at the birth of your Thomas. Worth looking into because of the baptism of Mary Anne Glynn (daughter of Patrick Glynn & Bridget Ruane that I previously referenced). A record for Bridget Ruane's baptism can also be found in Ardrahan on 28 Mar 1840. Her marriage to Patrick Glynn took place in Gort in Feb 1856.

Thanks very much.
Is 'Kitty' a short name for something else, and is Ardrahan close to Gort ?

I am only aware of Kitty being short for Catherine ( Cat being an abbreviated form of Catherine and Kitty being an affectionate form).
ARDRAHAN, a parish and post-town, partly in the barony of KILTARTAN and partly in that of LOUGHREA, but chiefly in the barony of DUNKELLIN, county of GALWAY, and province of CONNAUGHT.

Thanks very much, can you see what happened to this 'Kitty Glynn', did she marry and when/where did she die ?

Okay so this is what I’ve deduced, but you will have to verify this information before you can connect to your Thomas Nolan.
Kitty (Catherine)Glynn was born to John Glynn & Jane Dillon/Dilleen 15 Jun 1839. Baptism was recorded in Ardrahan (parishes of Kilmacduagh and Kiltartan were amalgamated in 1854 to form the present parish of Gort, which is why the birth of Thomas Nolan was recorded in Gort).
Mrs Jane Glynn (Jane Dillon) found in 1843 Land Assessment for Ballyhugh, Kilmacduagh, Kiltartan, Galway, Ireland. Patrick Glynn owner of Hotel & Shops on Market Street, Ballyhugh, Kilmacduagh, Kiltartan, as well. There is reference to Doctor Nolan house on Bridge Street as well. Thomas Nolan can be found in the 1855 Griffths on Bridge St, Ballyhugh, Kilmacduagh, Kiltartan, Galway. These Nolans and Glynn are connected to Patrick McMahon Glynn. His father John M Glynn (married to Elenor Walsh) would most likely be Kitty’s brother or Uncle and brother to the above reference Patrick Glynn, Hotel owner.
One way to verify your connection would be to find a DNA match to the family of Patrick McMahon Glynn.

This is stunning info, after so many years searching, thanks so much.
I have 19 family DNA kits, all are on Ancestry, FTdna and Gedmatch. Some have mtDNA and yDNA results as well.
In the old Baptism Register, I see a Michael Glynn born 17 JUly 1839 to a John Glynn and Mary Moylan, also on 25 August 1939, another Michael Glynn born to Timothy Glynn and Biddy Kilfoyle (Bridget right ?). The Parish Priest seems to have had a habit of calling people by their nic names ! He must have been close to everyone.
Can you write to me at frednolan@bigpond.com.
