JOSEPH was born circa 1850 in Ballynabloun,St. Finan's Bay, KERRY to JAMES Donoghue and Mary Murphy (Lott).
He took charge of the farm in 1864 when sister Bridget emigrated.He married Norah Shea in 1868 and they had 8 known children 4 boys and 4 girls. As well as working the farm JOE was part of a seine crew for fishing.The fish money helped to pay the rent of the farm to the O'Connell Landlords. Joseph was known to be a nice singer and step-dancer.
He died suddenly after bringing a horse from Puck Fair in August 1906.He is buried in Keel Cemetery ST.Finan's Bay ,The Glen, Co. KERRY. The name Joseph is repeated in every generation of his decendants. His wife Nora lived on after him until 1927.
