About Ireland Reaching Out Programme

Ireland Reaching Out (Ireland XO) is a unique volunteer-based initiative that connects the Irish Diaspora with their ancestral roots in Ireland. Our mission is to encourage descendants of Irish emigrants to visit and explore their heritage, fostering a deeper connection with Ireland. We work to promote tourism, heritage, and cultural understanding, making every visitor's journey a memorable and enriching experience.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Programme Coordinator to lead the day to day operation of our programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for volunteer management, marketing, community development, and partnership development, playing a crucial role in the success of the Ireland Reaching Out Diaspora Programme. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a passion for Irish heritage and culture. The programme has a high level of volunteer engagement and long term sponsors. 

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Management:

  • Support a network of volunteers engaging with the Irish Diaspora.
  • Develop and implement volunteer management policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities and recognize volunteer contributions.

Marketing:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the Ireland Reaching Out Programme.
  • Manage the highly successful email campaign programme across a database of over 175,000 members.
  • Create engaging content for digital platforms, including social media, website, and email campaigns.
  • Organize and promote events that attract the Irish Diaspora to visit and reconnect with their roots.

Community Development:

  • Work closely with local communities as they engage with the programme, providing training and support wherever necessary. 
  • Facilitate community-led initiatives that enhance the visitor experience for the Diaspora.
  • Provide support and resources to communities to support their volunteer work, at home and abroad.

Partnership Development:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including tourism boards, heritage organizations, and genealogical researchers.
  • Develop partnerships with international Irish organizations to extend the reach of the programme.
  • Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to create mutually beneficial opportunities.

Candidate Background

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Marketing, Communications, Tourism, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in programme coordination, volunteer management, community development, or marketing.
  • Experience in the heritage, tourism, or cultural sectors is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining successful partnerships.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
