Seeking a birth record for Frances Marrah (approximate birth 1860-1861, assuming Templenoe). Found her baptism at church of Ireland records in Dublin but not birth. In this record father appears to be john mclure, mother Catherine marrah. In 1860 census for templenoe with a

I think one was frances and the other sarah. Trying to find her for my father in law in Scotland who is 94 (and doesn't want to die a @#$#@ Brit!) a and has been searching. We're wondering if there migjt be birth record at local church. Can anyone help? We'd super appreciate help in solving this mystery!!

Hello,
Civil registration of Irish births began in 1864. So the baptismal record would be the only record of birth available. Will the baptismal record not suffice for your father-in-law's purposes? Perhaps a marriage record too?

Hi Patricia, thanks for your reply! My father in law wants to apply for Irish citizenship but apparently a baptism record is not enough. Frances was married in Scotland and we have the record of that but we've been advised we need a birth record. I was hoping the local parish church might have something.

Please double check with the Irish office? It seems doubtful that they would demand something that does not exist. As mentioned, Ireland didn't have civil registration of births until 1864. I myself obtained Irish citizenship, and what you are describing was not a requirement.
