Hello,
I have several birth records oof ancestors from late 18th early 19th century from Parish/District of Mitchestown with an address that was transcribed as Thingrisa.
has anybody heard of that or something similar? I can't see any townland with a name like that.
Any help is appreciated!

Hi, Are you referring to Mitchelstown in Cork or Meath?
Do you have an original document that you might scan and post here so that we can see "Thingrisa"?
Thank you.

Hi Patricia,
Yes, it's Cork and I'm attaching the transcript and the original.
If it's the record I'm looking for, then it's probably towards Kildorrery, but not sure.
Thanks!

Ps. I also saw it written as Tingrisil on another transcription. But I'm attaching a better close up of one of the original registers.

OK, mystery solved I'd say. I examined several years of records and finally found one with slightly better handwriting. In fact it's Kiltrislane, Mitchelstown. Very bad transcription, but considering the handwriting for a number of records, it's not surprising.
