I have been trying to trace my Gannon roots and have found a few articles on find my past, related to various deaths and auctioning of land. Is there an easy way to trace the land ownership or lease into the past? I believe there are at least 3 brothers that leased the land and the two neighboring tow lands of Caranlea, and Carowntogher. Timothy (Thady), Gilbert and James Gannon. The tithe record shows and Edmond Gannon at Teermore, but that is the only mention of him that I have found. I was hoping the land ownership and leasing information would point to an ancestor and possibly the last descendant in the area. Any help is appreciated.

Eric,
Yes, there is an easy way to find what you are looking for. Go to the Griffith's Valuation records on askaboutireland.ie and input the required information, and you will find lease records for all of the brothers. I took an easier route and looked on the paid site rootsireland.ie, and the following information shows up:
Gilbert Gannon leased land in Carnlea, Carrowntogher, and Teermore
Timothy Gannon in Teermore
James Gannon in Carnlea & Teermore
and then there is an Edward Gannon leasing land in the townland of Kilmacumsy

Carolyn
