Greetings,
I have an ancestor by the name of Hawkins Murphy/Hawkins H Morphy as it appears on records I have found.
He is shown as being born in Littleton, Tipperary, sometime in the early 1800s, possibly 1803-1804.
I am hoping that it might be possible to confirm, or rule out who his parents might have been.
I've seen others have linked him as being a son of Edmond/Edmund Murphy b.1770 , and Barbara Murphy, born Miller b.1775. (County Laois)
and have seen a record of their marriage in the Diocese of Cashel and Emly, circa 1793.
But, I've yet to see anything that confirms my relation being their child, other than others linking them in family trees without sources.
I realize that it may not be possible to learn more, but I was thinking maybe there might be a record of passage
from when they left to Canada, where Hawkins settled sometime in the early 1820s, possibly.
I understand that this is going quite far back, and that it isn't much to go on, but I am keen to try and learn anything I can.
Thank you for reading, and any suggestions anyone can offer.

Do you know Barbara Millers fathers name?
Do you know a Donna? she has the family but not Hawkins.
Oh !!!!!!!
Is Hawkins..............David Herbert?
If Catholic they will be in here.

Hi, Margot.
Thank you so much for responding to my message.
For Barabara, I have seen it suggested that her father's name was George Miller, and her mother possibly also Barbara.
But, I haven't wanted to go too far down that path, without having anything to confirm that these were in fact Hawkins' parents.
I do not know the Donna that you mentioned, but I have seen that loads of people seemed to have matched Hawkins as David Herbert,
but I've yet to see any reason/source for them doing so, as he is always documented as Hawkins
on all the records I have seen. And also, if I follow that David, that some take for Hawkins, he dies in Canada in 1850, I believe,
where Hawkins continues to be present in census records, right up until 1871.
Is it impossible to find a birth record for Hawkins, or any trace of children that Edmund/Edmond and Barbara may have had?
As Hawkins did appear to make a land petition in Upper Canada in 1821, maybe they could be found on a passenger list prior to that...
Thank you again for your reply, and all of the information that you shared with me.
KIndly,
Kimberly

Thank you,
I had found their marriage record, but was hoping there might also be some record of the children they had,
but I realize I may not find any from Ireland, after reading through parish records until I was nearly cross eyed.
I've made some progress tracing the family after they settled in Canada, and that may be the best I can hope for.
Thank you again for your help.
