I’m trying to find information on my great grandfather, Michael Moran. I know very little about his life or family in Ireland. I know only that he was born in Ireland in or about September 1834. He arrived in America in or around 1852, perhaps via Liverpool sailing on the Mary Pleasant in August of 1852 to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After arriving in America he lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and operated bars and sold liquor until his death 06 Dec. 1901. He was married to Catherine (maiden name unknown) until her death in or about 1871 and remarried Ellen A Keogh in 1880.
Sorry for the lack of working knowledge. Thanks for any info if suggestions you can provide.

Chris:
Michael Moran was a very common name in Ireland in the 19th century. Without having his parents names, we can't confirm if a baptismal record is available. Civil registration did not start until 1864.
Have you tried to get a copy of his 1901 death record? Pennsylvania death records are available form 1906- to the 1960s on Ancestry.com Those records usually show the parents names so hopefully the 1901 record might have that info.
On Ancestry.com there is a ancestral tree which includes a Michael Moran born September 1834 in Ireland. You would have to contact the tree owner to get access to the tree.
Also, have you taken a general DNA test?
