Valuation Revision Books 1882 -1897 for Gubb re 12abc occupier repo Philip Maguire,
I have read the following …
"Reps of," an abbreviation for “Representatives of” is used to indicate that the individual named in the valuation was dead at the time it was taken and that his or her legal interest in the holding was being temporarily represented by a family member or perhaps by an executor named in a will”.
Philip Maguire is crossed out and Philip Goodwin is inserted I think I understand that the 85 in the right hand column refers to the year but not sure why under observation it shows receipted. I can find no relationship between Philip Maguire and Philip Goodwin. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Hello,
Are you referring to Gubb in Fermanagh? Or in Leitrim? Thank you.

Your interpretation of reps of etc is sound. There may not be any family connection between Phillip Maguire and Philip Goodwin. Philip Maguire had evidently died and Philip Goodwin took the farm over. The Maguire family possibly decided to give up farming or had no-one willing and able to take it on after Philips death, so the lease would have been sold. There were other Goodwins in the townland, and so one of them presumably offered to buy the lease.
Don't know what receipted means in that particular context.
