I am researching my 2nd great grandfather James McEwan/Keown/McKeown. In his Scotland marriage record of 1855 to Mary McGann, father listed as Owen MacEwan (Scotland variation) and mother as Catherine Mackin and James birthplace as Drumchorick, Fermanagh. There are Keown family members listed in the records for Drumchorick in the 1901 and 1911 census. Through Ancestry DNA, I haved found a DNA connection to this Keown family of Drumchorick but like to make more direst connection to James. Any assistance would be wonderful, Mike

Griffiths Valuation 1862 lists Owen Keon on plot 2 in Drumchorick. The Valuation Revision records on the PRONI website show his name deleted in 1874 and replaced by John. So possibly that’s the farm passing from father to son.  Can’t see a death for Owen in the statutory records.

Cormick in the 1901 census is the son of Francis.

    Their son Cormick:

John Keown was married to Rose Gallagher. Their son John:

Can’t find a marriage for them 1864 onwards which suggests they married before that, in which case proving John was Owen’s son will be difficult as parents are unlikely to be recorded in the church records.

The local RC records (parish of Templecarn) only start in 1851 for baptisms.  So you won’t find a baptism for James who was born before those records begin. Marriages start in 1836.  You can search them on rootsireland (subscription).

    Probate abstract:

Keown Cormick of Drumchorick county Fermanagh farmer died 27 May 1914 Probate Londonderry 14 December to Andrew Keown farmer. Effects £25.

The will itself should be in PRONI (in paper format). So a personal visit would be required ot view it or pay PRONI to copy it for you.
