The New York Times published an article on James Jackson - a 28 year old immigrant from Kildare, Ireland who dies in New York from Yellow Fever in 1799 and was buried in Washington Square Park - now no longer a gravesite.
Does anyone with knowledge of Kildare records have any information on this young man? The quality of his gravestone suggests he had friends of means enough to give him a decent burial. The NYT would no doubt be interested on any further information.

Hi Mike!
Hope you are well!
Roots Ireland does not have any James Jackson baptismal records in Co.Kildare around 1771. There is a record in 1708 and then the next James Jackson is 1803, Very few Kildare RC and C of I churches have records back to 1771 or so. Athy mainly.

Hi Roger - many thanks for the response/research. Good to hear from you. There is a lady - Sharon Oddie Brown of the "the Silver Bowl" who has detailed knowledge of the Jackson family in Kildare it seems - was in contact yesterday - hoping she can shed some light...Mike
