Hi, I'm currently researching my Irish ancestors and I believe I am looking for a Thomas O'Meara (born approx 1853) who married Margaret O'Meara (possibly nee Coonan) in 1891. Thomas lived in Garranthurles in Ballymackey. Their daughter Margaret (born approx 1894) married a George Wood from Brighton.
I keep drawing a blank back from Thomas.
I'd hoping to visit Ireland next year and it would be so lovely to know more about these ancestors.
Ever hopeful thanks in advance ...

See fifth record for an 1897 civil birth record for a Margaret Meara with father Thomas and mother Margaret Coonan. It appears at that time the family lived in Dungar townland in Roscrea civil parish in Co. Offaly.
See third record, the couple were married in January 1895. Thomas was a widower
By 1901, the family had moved to Garranthurles townland in Ballymackey civil parish in Co. Tipperary.

Here are a few civil birth records for Thomas' eldest two daughters as they were born before his marriage to Margaret Coonan. The first one for Anna (1892) shows the mother's maiden name as Gleason, and there is a nephew Gleeson in the 1911 Census record. The second one, not certain it is the one you seek, is for a Margaret Meara born in the Nenagh workhouse in 1894 - her mother is Margaret Meara with no father listed. Perhaps the workhouse was more of a hospital by that time, and that is why she was born there.

Forgot to add...I realize the birth record I posted for Margaret is not as good as the one Roger posted....however, a 1897 birth would have made her 4 in 1901 and 14 in 1911 which doesn't agree with her census record....it seems like a big error to make her age that different. Also, I took a look at Anna's record, and it's Gleeson, not Gleason. Did not locate a marriage record for her to Thomas Meara (Mara).
