Family research recently discovered (author unknown) suggest that my GGG Grandfather (name unknown – possibly Hugh) had four wives between 1795 and 1805. He had a son with each of his wives.
The suggestion that he had four wives is somewhat difficult to accept, however, the names of each of his four sons and the names of their wives was provided in the research paper along with the names of some of their children.
I have constructed a Family Tree based on the information; copy attached.
My question is. Can anyone make a link to any of the family lines.
It seems that his children and grandchildren were mostly born and lived in Co Leitrim.
My Ancestry, Hugh, son of Margaret Early was thought to have lived around Lough Allen
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
Peter

Peter,
The paid site Roots Ireland show two births to Hugh and Margaret:
Terence O'donnel 25 Mar 1836, RC parish of Innishmagrath, Co. Leitrim
Hugh O'donell 19 Sep 1838, RC parish of Innishmagrath, Co. Leitrim
The birth & marriage records go from 1834 to 1839 & 1881 to 1899; so I don't think you will find any births from their other children prior to 1834 OR his father's first three wives.

Carolyn

Thank you for the information, it is very much appreciated.
I have the Australian Death Certificates for the other Three Children, James, Ann, and Michael as well as their ages at the time of their deaths so I can work backwards.
Records show that a Terence arrived in Australia with Michael in 1860 but no trace of Terence has been found in the Australian records. I now strongly suspect that Terance was Michael’s younger brother and he unlike Michael returned to Ireland. The recent information shows that Terence Died in Leitrim in 1884 age 42. That puts Terance’s age on his arrival at 18. May be the trip out to Australia and the conditions he found on arrival were too much.
Ann’s arrival/ shipping details show her as an orphan, so I am guessing that Hugh and Margaret had died prior to 1857.However the recent information shows Terence’s Mother Margaret dying in 1869.
Like so many, I am attempting to write the family history and keeping the story as factual as possible. So, every little piece of information helps.
I am hoping that people may connect with the descendants of Hugh’s siblings John, Daniel and Ignatius and provide their stories.
In the meantime, thanks again.
Peter
