My Grandmother, Annie O'Brien, born 27 Feb 1897 at Lough Eske, daughter of James O'Brien (a coachman) of Salt Hill, Donegal and his wife Bridget (nee Loughlin), moved to Glasgow sometime after the First World War and met and married my Grandfather, Michael Lenaghan of Leitrim. For some reason, my Grandfather changed his surname to Leonard, and used that name on their marriage certificate in 1924.
I'd appreciate any confirmation of relatives and/or my Great Grandparents.
I remember my dad, also Pat Leonard, talking about her brother, Paddy, who had lost his legs due to disease.
I may be visiting the Salt Hill area in September and it would be great to find out a bit more of my history.
Many thanks
Pat Leonard

See the third record at this link https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1890/10716/5906373.pdf
This is the 1890 civil marriage record for James O'Brien and Bridget Loughlin. They were both living in Ballyhanna townland in Inishmacsaint civil parish which is the southernmost civil parish in Donegal.Fathers were John O'Brien and Hugh Loughlin.
Bridget indicated she was 27 when she married in 1890 which would point to an 1863 year of birth. The only lead I found was this 1866 civil birth record (see fourth record at the link) https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1866/03542/2303589.pdf Mother was shown as Mary Slevin.

Thank you, Roger. I certainly didn't expect such a quick response. This is most helpful
