I have DNA matches to more than one Tedford family from Tartaraghan parish. In some cases I have three to five matches within one line with one genealogy company so there is a strong connection even though we are probably only 4th or 5th cousins.
Is there any Tedford still living in this parish who might know if a Hughes married a Tedford? Or is there a Hughes who might know if there was a marriage with a Hughes. My great-great-grandfather James Hughes emigrated to Stockport, England, in the 1830's, but I am not sure of the parish he came from. With so many Tedford DNA matches, I am wondering if he came from this parish. According to the Tithe Applotment Books of 1834 there were two Hughes in the parish and two Tedfords although I wonder if the two Teafords are really Tedfords.
I am hoping a family Bible or a family history might exist.
Thank you, Jan
Seashore

https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632606#page/119/mode/1up This is the register for the parish of Tartaraghan and Loughgall, it starts in 1833 so you may find an entry for your relative by searching the register.

Eileen thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to help. I really appreciate it. I will check out theTelford-Hughes records you mentioned. I have wondered if Telford and Tedford might be the same name, but I have no idea. I would actually need records a little before 1833 to find my common connection, but I can hope that if my great-great-grandfather did come from this parish, that maybe a sibling stayed behind. James emigrated to Stockport, England in the 1830's so perhaps I could also look for any Hughes families having children in the 1830's and 1840's who have names similar to James's children.
I wonder if there is a history of people from this parish emigrating to the Lancashire or Chesire area of England.
Thank you,
