Are there records of people who emigrated from Roscommon to New Zealand?

I am searching for my great-grandmother’s departure from Ireland and arrival in NZ. Maria Angela Kelly was born between 1861 and 1865 in Castlerea.  She emigrated as a single woman, probably after 1870 and before 1887. Her parents were Thomas Kelly and Catherine Parsons of Castlerea according to her marriage certificate in Wellington, NZ 1888. That record also stated that Thomas Kelly was an “engineer”. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Brigid’s birth in 1865. Father’s occupation: “small farmer,”

The townland was Willsbrook in the civil parish of Kilkeevin. Here’s the family in the 1901 census:

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Roscommon/Coolougher/Willsbrook/1665131/

    And in 1911:

The 1911 census tells us they had 9 children of whom 6 were still alive.

Griffiths Valuation lists Thomas Kelly on plot 2a in Willbrook which was a house and 3 acres, 2 roods and 20 perches of land (so 3 and  a half acres).

  • Interested to see the sponsors for Bridget, their daughter are John and Joan Kirwin..

I have a GGG Grandfather Michael Kirwin, possibly son of Dinis Kirwin and Mary Duff of Roscommon in the Ballymoe area (near Castlerea)

I haven't found anything except a baptism record for him.

He married Sarah Jane Noonan also of Roscommon in 1850 and they were in the US by 1851 for the birth of their first child. Would love to see if they are related.

  • In 1850, he wed Sarah Jane Noonan, who was also from Roscommon. By 1851, they had their first child and had already arrived in the United States. It would be wonderful to learn whether they are linked. basketball stars
