I am looking to find out more information about the John Connors(O’Connor) family from Garrydoolis. I know that he was born in 1859, in Scrag, to John Connors and Catherine(Kate) Leamy. He married Mary Reardon in 1882(both were living in Cromhill), moving to Garrydoolis, to raise their family. John was a farm labourer during his lifetime and he died in 1939 in Garrydoolis. John is the source of more than half a dozen of the Pallasgreen School student essays, written in the years 1937-1938; which can be found in the National Folklore Collection, UCD. John’s son Jeremiah died in 1965 and is buried in the Templebraden Graveyard. I would also like to know if Jeremiah and his wife Mary Dwyer had a daughter Josephine, born October 19, 1934. If any photos of Garrydoolis from the 1920s and 1930s or any of the Connors(O’Connor) family members exist, I would very much like to view them.

Hi John, you have amazing research done on your ancestors and and on the area. Perhaps a query on The Limerick Leaader emai. News@limericklive.ie or The Nationalist e-mail news@tipperarylive.ie.
If you live in the area The local Studies in Co Library Thurles, could have obituaries on The Nationalist for some of the recent deaths, which could give you more names in the area.
Best of luck, let me know how you get on and if you have any queries.

Hi Christina,
Thank you for your informational leads. I live in the States, so a visit to the Thurles Library is not a viable option. The obituaries I would most likely wish to acquire are for Jeremiah O’Connors’ children, Paddy O’Connor(d. April 24, 2016), Annie Poole(d. December 12, 2016) and Nora Mulcahy(Oola) née O’Connor(d. April 13, 2006). I am not sure that they were published in the Limerick Leader or the Nationalist. I appreciate any ideas you may have.

Hi Christina,
I have a death notice from D Whelan & Sons Funeral Directors, Bansha Road, Tipperary Town for Thomas Mulcahy(spouse of Nora) Moan, Oola, April 24, 2010. There is no mention of Nora or of children. So, I don’t have the names or addresses of any relatives. Thomas and Nora are buried in the Oola Village Graveyard. These facts don’t seem to provide a forward path.

Hi Christina,
Yes, I see the death notice for Thomas Mulcahy, who by coincidence died in Oola, Limerick in 2016. The Thomas Mulcahy from Moan, Oola, Limerick, spouse of Nora, died in 2010. The rip.ie database, only goes back to 2013. Thank you for continued efforts to overcome this brick wall.
