Hi! I'm looking into bringing my uncle to the area where his great grandfather lived. His great grandfather was Cornelius Hunt and he was a grounds keeper at Glin Castle. Does anyone have any additional information or know of any relatives still in the area? Thank you! -Brandy

Brandy,
I attach a record of the 1901 Irish Census for Kinnard (Kinard) Glin - County Limerick for a Cornelius Hunt. He is described as an Agricultural Labourer, aged 70 years, widower and residing alone. He is leasing House No.14 in the attached Form B1.
Do you have any further information in relation to him?
There is another "Cornelius Hunt" aged 40 years in the townland of Killeany More - Glin. He married Bridget Culhane in 1876 and had a large family. He is described as a farmer.

Brandy,
Civil birth record for John Hunt in 1867. The address would appear to be "Dromreask" which is a townland on the road from Glin to Athea.

Thank you McCoy! I know Cornelius had a daughter named Mary A Hunt who immigrated to Providence, RI and married Frank McGair. She was born in Ireland around 1896.
Thank you again!

Looking at this more, I think it's the 40 year old Cornelius with the large family.

Brandy,
Cornelius Hunt in Killeaney More was married to Bridget Dillane - not Culhane as recorded in my Post.
Civil records for Cornelius Hunt in relation to the birth of Ellen, Bridget and James record him as Steward and Land Steward. In the Civil marriage record his father is recorded as Cornelius Hunt. I have not found any birth record for him. Civil birth records are from January 1st 1864 and in his marriage record he is shown as 22 years which would indicate he was born in the 1850's?
You will see in Form B1 that the surname "Hunt" was recorded for a number of families.

Brandy,
Attached records of Griffith's Valuations c1850 - John Hunt - Killeaneymore and John Hunt Tooraree Low Lower. Both are in the Civil parish of Kilfergus, Glin.
Cornelius Hunt in Killeaney as you have pointed out is probably the son of John Hunt!

My 4th GGF was Timothy Hunt , born about 1760 in Glin. He and wife Catherine O’Malley (O’Melia) had Cornelius, John, Daniel, Nicholas, Ellen, and Margaret. John, Nicholas, and Ellen, emigrated with their families to Ontario, Canada, in 1847. Daniel and Cornelius stayed behind in Limerick.

Hi Suzanne!
From what I can tell, all but 2 of Cornelius' kids ended up emigrating to Rhode Island, though one moved on to MN. You would be my uncle's 4th/5th cousin? Nice to meet you!
