Hello,
I’m looking for the marriage record for my 4th great grandparents, James Slaven/Slavin/Slevin and Mary Brennan. Mary’s parents were James Brennan & Margaret Lawlor of Knockardagur in Ballynakill, Laois. They were Catholic.
I think Mary and James should have married about 1822-1823. I cannot find the baptism record for their eldest child, Sarah, either (so maybe these events took place prior to Nov 1820?) Looking at the Catholic registers at NLI, marriage records start Nov 1820. I searched through 1827 and didn’t find their record in Abbeyleix & Ballyroan. Their eldest son John was baptized 6 Jan 1826 in Abbeyleix & Ballyroan and they were living in Knockardagur at the time. I've searched Ancestry, Findmypast & irishgenealogy.ie, and I'm coming up empty handed.
Any other areas I should search? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Dawn:
Looking at the index for Abbeyleix and Ballyroan on the NLI site, there appears to be records from two different chapels in the parish. For the second chapel maybe Knockardagur, the records start in June or July 1824. My guess is that the marriage and Sarah's baptism took place before June 1824 at that chapel and no records will be available.

Thanks, Roger. I think I know the name of that church and I will try to contact them, just to confirm that they do not have records prior to June 1824. Gaaah, I keep striking out! -dawn
