I am researching my Dolan, Kelly, Kenny Family from Lowtown Kilcashel. I have looked at the1828 Tithe Apploment and Griffith's Valuation of Lowtown Kilcashel, Roscommon from 1858 and wondered how the property/house lots compared to each other? How they compared to the 1901 & 1911 Irish Census? Then I looked at a recent, 2013 map of Lowtown Kilcashel and wondered how it compared to the 1901 and 1911 Census? Compared to the 1858 Griffith's valuation?

Regina:
I think you would need to look at the Revision books https://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/revision-books.html which are not currently available online. You would have to go to the Valuation Office in Dublin https://www.valoff.ie/en/archive-research/genealogy/ The records for Co. Roscommon have been digitized but only available in Dublin.

Hello Roger - that won't be possible as I am in the United States. Is there any local Moore Parish or Roscommon resource that I might be able to reach out to?

Regina, Tithe records and Griffiths Valuation only are for Rents, Tax and who the tenants are.
The Census as you know gives all the names in the family but also gives other information. Can you send a full name of who you would like to search for as an example and I will tell you how to get your information.
Takes too long to explain.
Thanks

Regina:
I went back and looked at all the messages posted in Moore parish on our message board (including some of your messages). Marie Monaghan was our volunteer for Moore parish but she has been inactive for a few years.
I located this message from 2016 where Marie mentioned a Moore Parish History group https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland/roscommon/moore-roscommon/message-board/kelly-family-ardnaglug You will see an e-mail address of moorehistorymarie@gmail.com You can also try moore@irelandxo.com which was her Ireland Reaching Out e-mail address.

Margot - I basically am trying to figure out where the families lived in 1901 and 1911 and looking at the way land was divided determine how property in present day Lowtown Kilcashel related to 1901 and 1911. I'm most interested in Patrick and John Kelly and Patrick and John Dolan. I am trying to figure out who the children are of Patrick Kelly Sr and John Dolan Sr. I am related to all of them. Actually I am related to the Dolan, Kelly, Kenny, Caulfield, Curley and Kilduff families. I know that John Dolan b. 1858 m. Mary Dolan b. 1861 in House 6 in 1901 and House 5 in 1911 sold their property sometime in the late 1900s to Tim Feehily and his wife Kathleen Glennon. I have also heard that there are two Dolan families still living in Lowtown Kilcashel and would love to try to figure out who their ancestors are and figure out how I am related. I have extensively researched most of the people living in Lowtown Kilcashel and have a good size tree on Ancestry under Regina Cronin Walsh
I was trying to send along the 1901 Census for Houses 4, 5,6, 7, 8, 9 but the sizes exceeded what was allowed. I can always email them if that helps.
I know Roger encouraged me to reach out to Marie Costello Monaghan and will plan to do that.
Appreciate your input and expertise.
Sincerely,
Regina

Ok Regina, got it. From the 1901 Census the page that states House and building return, has all the family names listed.
From there I would need to look at each family, list the children and get their birth records, easily done now, then go to the parents marriages, then work out who the children to each family married, then where they went to.This is what I would start to work from.
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003834039/Then each family, as I say list the children. ok, I will do number 4 Thomas Kelly, there are 7 in his house.
I will come back as soon as I have the information.

Ok, Thomas Kelly and Mary inhouse number 4 1901. She was Mary Caufield. I cannot find their marriage in the IG site and the Church records only go up to 1881.
Can you email me please, I have the records of the children and a Ship record for Eliza Kelly in 1912 going to the USA. I cannot upload that record here. States her home address and father Thomas.
Thanks

Hi Margot - Mary Ann Caulfield married Thomas Kelly in Moore, Roscommon, Ireland, on August 27, 1886, when she was 18 years old. I actually have an extensive tree on Ancestry. My original goal had been to try to figure out if anyone from the 1828 Tithe Aplotment, 1856 Griffith's Valuation, 1901 and 1911 Census were still living in present day Lowtown Kilcashel. I am planning to travel to Lowtown Kilcashel in the fall. I know Kathleen Feehily is living on the property of House 5 as of today. I am not sure how it correlates to Griffith's valuation. I was told that the census taker randomly gave the houses a number. I also know that Dolan's are still living in present day Lowtown Kilcashel.
