This came from Brenda
Dad,s father was Bernard Donnelly and his mother was Jane Walsh. Both from County Mayo.
Bernard,s father was Martin Donnelly and his mother was Sara Stanton, both also from County Mayo. No town was ever mentioned.
Bernard died in 1943 and Jane died of accute poisoning in 1924 at the age of 53. She was ironing. The starch they used in those days was a white liquid. She mistook it for milk and drank it.

looking for any and all information on Donnelly Walsh Stanton.

I am coming to Ireland and will be in County Mayo on 29 April

  • Donnelly once in Boston

    oral history.

Although they all lived in Boston environs, not much contact.
Grandfather:  Bernard Donnelly, street sweeper, owned three houses in Newton (Grandpa grew up in one of them), ? indoor plumbing?
Grandma Donnelly:  her father might have been a doorman at a Boston hotel?
    Her aunts:
Delia (?) married Jim Foley.  Owned two houses in Back Bay, one on Cape, which Dad went to.
Eleanor:  husband, movie operator?  Four children:  Jim, Eleanor, Charlie (Dad's age), another girl.

  • Here’s a bit more information

    Bernard/Brian Donnelly

     Jane Walsh
    (Parents of my father)
    Both of County Mayo
    Both born around 1870
Jane’s father was Michael Walsh and her mother was Mary Garrety.
Bernard’s father was Martin Donnelly and his mother was Sarah Stanton, although this is not clear.
    That’s all for now.
