Hi Everyone,
I am researching my great grandparents John and Mary Lowe, and I know that Mary is buried in Belfast City Cemetery Grave H1 54. At the time of her death she had been living at 1 Ghent St, Belfast. Does anyone know where I could request a photo of the grave? I have tried online sites with no luck. Is there a Friends of the Cemetery for example?
I am also looking for the grave of John Lowe who died in 1926. I know he was living at 24 Marchioness St in June 1918 and possibly the family moved straight into Ghent St after that but I do not know. I cant find his burial record at Belfast City Cemetery.
What would have the living conditions like in those areas at the time?
Where else could John be buried?
Thank you so much for any help.

The Lowe family were in Marchioness St in the 1924 street directory (compiled late 1923):

Marchioness St still exists, as you may know, but has been completely redeveloped. In the 1920s it would have been rows of 2 up 2 down terraced houses. Some still exist in Belfast but they also have examples reconstructed in the Cultra Folk museum outside Belfast.
Somebody else was interested in this family about 10 years ago:

If no-one offers to photograph the grave you could employ a researcher to photograph it for you. Researchers in the area: http://sgni.net
If John Lowe was Catholic I would try Milltown Cemetery as that’s where most Catholics were buried at that time. It’s records are not on-line. You need to contact them. 028 9061 3972
