Hi, I'm currently doing some family tree research for my mothers side (Rickard) and wondered if anyone could explain to me why her parents marriage registration would show her mother's maiden name listed as Kane but her mother's fathers surname listed as Kearney?
Thanks,
Pat

Hi,
Does the marriage registration say that the bride Kane is a widow? If so, she was probably going by her married name, Kane. Her father's name would obviously have been different.

Hi Patricia, Marriage registration lists her as Spinster hence my confusion why her last name would be different. Understand possible different spellings of surnames, as we have come across Keane for Kane but this doesn't seem to apply here. Could the fathers name listed on the registration possibly be a step-father, ie. her mother remarried & so this is only her mothers new surname?
Attached is copy of record that I have found

Yes, it could be her stepfather.
