Hi,
Just wanting to try and find out more info about my 6 x great grandfather Walter Stewart who married Agnes Maria Orpen in about 1770. I want to find out where he was born and where he died. All I know about him is that he was rector of Kenmare at some stage. I know the Orpen's are a well known family of the Kenmare/Killowen area. I also know Walter was the son of Walter Stewart rector of Inniskeel, County Donegal.
Walter and Agnes had a daughter Frances Isabella Stewart who married Sergeant Thomas King of the Meath Militia. These are my 5 x great grandparents. They then had a daughter Agnes King who married John Hill in Kells, Meath in 1829. Agnes' brother Walter Stewart King immigrated to Queensland Australia and became a well known policeman in the Maryborough area along with his sons, Nathaniel Irvine King and Thomas Orpen Irvine King. If this rings a bell to anyone please get in touch.

Batesy,
I attach report of the death of Frances Stewart King in Kenmare 1854. It states that she buries with her parents which suggests that the Rev. Walter Stewart and his wife are buried in Kenmare?
You should contact the Rector in Kenmare to see if there is a plaque or other information available in the church.

McCoy

Thaks McCoy. I have a copy of the same death notice from the "Cork Southern Reporter" except it doesn't include the last line about her being interred with her parents ! so thank you for the extra piece of crucial information. I have contacted the Kenmare church to see if these graves have inscriptions or any plaques in the church.
