Searching for any details or info on my G/grandfather Thomas Quinn - parents Thomas Quinn and Mother Anastasia I have found in the 1841 -51 census page 32 -No 10 a Thomas Quinn- farmer and wife Anastasia RW with a James 19 and a Mary 16 laborers. Next hurdle- seems a lot of them - hurdles- but interesting - how does one find out where - parish - area etc. the census was for. Have tried to search but unsuccessful. A thankful reply I received says they may come from Kill of Waterford. Can anyone one help. Being cheeky- I keep telling myself I will get these Irish problematic ancestors sorted before I am too old. Now very late 70`s so hear is hoping. Australia

The entry you located comes from a book sourced from various census fragments and pension search forms, the author is Josephine Masterson, "1841/1851 Census Abstracts (Republic of Ireland). Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1999"
The Quinn household you mentioned is listed under the heading 'Barony of Iverk, parish of Aglish, Townland of Aglish South' which is in County Kilkenny.
The townland of Aglish South is located west of Waterford city and close to the town of Mooncoin, the river Suir which follows the Waterford/Kilkenny border in this area is a short distance south, see the entry for the townland on the placename database.
The Catholic parish for this area would have been Mooncoin (aka Carrigeen & Mooncoin / Rathkyran) , based in the nearby town of the same name, the registers cover back to the late 1770s - see these registers on the National Library of Ireland website, these records should also be available to search on FindMyPast and Acestry.Shane Wilson, IrelandXO Volunteer ☘

I dont think the Kill, County Waterford couple are relevant - just another Thomas Quin with wife Anastasia in a different location.
The 1841 Aglish South, Co. Kilkenny census abstract shows Thomas age 52, wife Anastasia age 49 and 'children' James age 19 and Mary age 16 - so married would have been married 1820s at the latest.Shane Wilson, IrelandXO Volunteer ☘

Des, In relation to the Post to you on December 28th 2022, a Thomas is recorded as having ben baptised in Kill in 1843. The problem is that his mother is recorded as "Catherine" rather than Anastasia. This could be an error? Margaret Quin is baptised on November 25th 1844. Parents: Thomas Quinn and Anastasia McGrath Baptismal Sponsors: Martin Quinn and Catherine Quinn. The following were also baptised in Kill: William 1846 -- Brigid 1850 -- Johanna 1852 -- Michael 1854 Have you any knowledge of the names of siblings of your grandfather -- Thomas Quinn Regards,
McCoy
