Hi, I would dearly love to hear from any Fitzgeralds in this area. I am actively researching my triple great grandmother, who was Mary Ann Fitzgerald of Ballingarry. Mary Ann was 16 when she travelled to Australia as part of the Earl Grey Scheme. Hope to hear from you soon :)

There are at least three Ballingarry's that I know of 1 . Ballingarry Co. Limerick, 2 . Ballingarry North Tipperary, 3 . Ballingarry South Tipperary. There are I am sure several more. Perhaps if you knew which Workhouse District she came from --it may be some help.

Hi Quain, Mary Ann's family lived in Ballingarry, Upper Connello Limerick. Her mother was from Lissamota. I have a lot about her life in Australia (she travelled in 1850 on the Tippoo Saib as part of the Earl Grey Scheme) but her life in Ireland is more of a mystery. I think she was at the Kilmallock workhouse.......Thank you for your assistance. Nikki
