Hello! I am hoping to find any information on the McCues of County Leitrim--the name has been spelled this way since they came to the US in the 1840's or 50's, but I assume it could have been McHugh in Ireland. There were 4 known brothers, with best guess birth years as noted: Martin, 1829; Patrick, 1830; John, 1836; and Charles, 1839. According to Martin's obituary, they were from "Leitrim, near Sligo". All were farmers in the US, and illiterate. The Martin name is very prevalent down to the present day, so I would not be surprised if their father or grandfather was so named.

    I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the earliest Martin McCue/McHugh baptismal record was in 1845. There were two Charles McCue/McHugh records in 1837 and 1840. We really need to have the parents names to see if any records would be available.

    Many of the Co. Leitrim RC parishes have baptisms starting later than 1839 so maybe baptismal records would not be available for the four sons.

    Let me know if you have additional information. 

    Another option is DNA testing. Possibly you will get matches with 3rd or 4th cousins who have more information.
